Our mice are reared in a home environment. Males are usually kept in pairs or singularly whilst females are kept in colonies. We handle our mice daily to ensure they all have the attention every pet deserves. This also ensures we have happy, well adjusted pets who are constantly monitored for their health and well being.
We are proud members of the Australian Rodent Fanciers Society - NSW (AusRFSNSW) and as such we are bound by their constitution and code of ethics.
Our mice are $5.00 each.
They come with a pedigree, care sheet and sample bag of food. We guarantee our mice are tame, well handled and free from parasites.
We use and recommend Kintraks animal breeder software.
We treat our mice with Revolution on a regular basis and therefore they are suitable as pets only.
We originally started with the conventional wire cage
which included a removable floor tray.
Whilst this might work well for one or two mice and is great for closer, more personal contact, we do find that their urine tends to run down and sit under the tray causing spillage and odours. This type of cage is easy to pull apart and clean but is not secure enough if dropped or attacked by a dog or cat. There is a newer type of cage which has a network of external tubing giving the mice more area to explore and a solid base that comes apart easily for cleaning. Again, this cage is easily dismantled.
Homemade tubs are great. Readily available in every size imaginable, they are cheap to buy and are relatively easy to customise with the help of a soldering iron, some small aviary wire, and rivets or thin wire. We have also made dividers to house males or colonies separately. Very secure and easy to clean.
We have also utilised stackable drawers to house mice. They are of a good size with enough height to include a wheel and other toys to enhance the quality of life for your pet. We put a wire panel in the front of each drawer for ventilation and easy visibility.
An old fish tank is also a suitable home for mice, just be sure that it isn't in an area where direct sunlight can heat up the interior to extreme temperatures which are deadly for your pets. They can be customised for any scenario, are secure, easy to clean, contain any smells and allow excellent viewing of your pets antics. We use one as a breeding tank.
