Sherpani came to us as payment in a lease agreement where we'd lent her mother to another mousery to breed a litter. Her mother is Indah, a black tan longcoat and she was bred to the outstanding male Grand Champion Zen Loki, (brother to Odie) a bone longcoat. The litter was born on 23 April, 2008.
Sherpani is a himalayan longcoat and she got her name from the word "sherpa" (sherpani means female sherpa) because she was the first one to always run up her breeders arm and reach her shoulder. Her breeder was thinking of calling her Tenzing, after Sir Edmund Hilary's sherpa guide.
Sherpani has great conformation and has done well at shows. We bred her to our black self, Devil; and together they have produced a lovely litter of 8 black selfs, with 6 being longcoat and 2, longcoat rex. The litter excells in conformation and some may carry blue and manx. This mating was uncle to niece.
Pandora is a sealpoint siamese. Her mother is Mousekateers Bonbon, a siamese we bred and litter sister to Mini, Lily, Merlin and Sirius. Her dad is a siamese we much admired and had always wanted to use at stud. She was born on 2 May, 2008. Pandora wasn't much to look at as a youngster but she has blossomed into a stunning adult. She has regularly placed at our shows.
We bred Pandora to our gorgeous double rex black self, Felix and they produced 5 black selfs and 3 colourpoint beige rex offspring. The conformation of their youngsters is outstanding and we look forward to their show debut.
Lacey is our gorgeous pink eyed white longcoat rex, this variety is sometimes called "sheep" mice because of their white, long, thick, woolly coats. Bred from our beautiful Jasmine and sweet Austin Powers on 12 May, 2008, this was an outstanding litter which produced some lovely mice, some of whom have been shipped to Queensland.
Lacey is another who has done well at shows, but in another blow to our breeding program, we found out too late that tumours had popped up in other relatives. The decision was made not to breed from Lacey, and all owners of her brothers and sisters have been advised against breeding.
Chiquita is our first Chinchilla mouse. Claire mentioned that one day she'd like a Chinchilla and I'd noticed that one of our favourite breeders had a female for sale. Born on the 27 July, 2008 from an argente cream fox dad and a chinchilla mother, Chiquita was entered in the show where we picked her up and made her debut by winning Champion Mouse in Show. We were thrilled.
We don't have any plans for breeding at the moment but she is such a stunning mouse with her sleek racy lines, huge eyes and big ears it would be a shame not to continue the line.
Chilli Pepper is a quirky little cinnamon blazed double banded rex manx.
She was born on 24 July, 2008 to a cinnamon blazed banded dad and an agouti blazed banded mum.
She is such a character, bouncing around and running everywhere, always on her wheel, Chilli is a delightful pet. We do have plans to breed her in the future, possibly producing some pretty marked rex manx.
Sunflower was snapped up from our local petshop after friend's purchased her litter sister and told us about her. Born on approximately 7 August, 2008, she is a lovely little standard black brindle. We believe she is a sister to our Jack, purchased earlier from the same petshop. Sunflower is a small mouse but with nice proportions and a good temperament, she gets on with everyone.
Surprised by what Buffy and Jinx produced in the first litter, we decided to breed them again after a couple of months break. On 4 October, 2008 Buffy did a much better job and the result was 7 girls, including chocolate/burmese foxes, with a very dark (almost havana) self, a marked Siamese and a lovely blue Himalayan. Some of these girls had kinked tails too which undoubtedly came down from their grandfathers - one of whom was a manx and the other had a kinked tail himself. They all have the most amazing temperaments and are lovely pets.
Karma is a very dark chocolate self rex. She has a small tail tip but otherwise outstanding conformation. Karma has consistently placed in the Rex Self Class at Shows and has a lovely friendly personality.
Destiny is a burmese fox rex with a tiny kink in the end of her tail. She was not supposed to stay but being the last left from the litter, we've grown attached to her. Destiny is another from this litter with a fabulous temperament, she has done amazingly well in the Pet Classes at Shows.
Silvie is a blue himalayan rex. She was bred successfully to the same blue siamese that Rosy was bred to and they produced a lovely litter of blue siamese rex and standard coat babies.
Jellybean, Duchess, Lotus and Willow are from a breeder in Queensland. We were fortunate enough to purchase them when breeders were freighting mice and rats in bulk. We have found it rather ironic that Duchess and Lotus are from different litters but sired by the same mouse who we had freighted to Queensland on behalf of another breeder a few months earlier.
Duchess is a pretty dove tan standard stumpy manx. She was born on 16 October, 2008 and is a daughter of Rocket Ripper whom we shipped to Queensland earlier in the year. Duchess is a biddable little mouse and holds her own in the colony, with her pretty colours and nice conformation she certainly catches your eye.
Willow is a chocolate tan longcoat rex manx, born on 4 October, 2008. She was offered to us as a replacement after Jellybean was attacked by another mouse. We were fortunate that Jellybeans injuries were not serious and secured both girls with Willow being a gorgeous girl with lovely conformation. Willow proves herself at her first show by winning Champion Mouse.
Deltora was our pick from a litter sired by our outstanding boy Res Ch Mousekateers Merlin, to a stunning petshop siamese, she was born on 2 November, 2008. She is a sealpoint siamese standard and should mature into a stunning mouse, if her parents are anything to go by. This litter was quite hard to assess because of the quality of the offspring but we chose Deltora because there were a few foxes in the litter and she was a self.
Poppy was born on Rememberance Day, 11 November, 2008. Bred by another breeder from our stunning black self longcoat rex boy, Ch Mkt Devil, Poppy is a standard fawn brindle mismark manx. She has the most outgoing nature and is extremely friendly, fitting into our colony very well.
Dandylion is a fawn brindle mismark longcoat. Bred by another breeder from our lovely manx boy, TRR Aeon, she was born 13 December, 2008. A very sweet mouse with large eyes and a quiet disposition.
Black Betty is a very friendly black self longcoat rex from our own Ch Mkt Devil and Zen Sherpani, an uncle to niece breeding, born on 23 November, 2008. We were pleased and disappointed with this litter of all blacks, but it was something we should have expected. Their conformation is stunning, Betty is the darkest black we've bred and we're hoping that some may carry blue and manx.
Bonnie is a lovely colourpoint beige rex with the biggest eyes from our siamese girl Roc Pandora and NN Felix. With Felix being a double rex the whole litter have lovely plush rex coats. They were born on 31 Novemeber, 2008. When she was younger we couldn't decide what colour she was but she has finally pointed up. We've also kept Bonnie's brother Clyde, who has been even harder to evaluate and the best guess for him is coffee. It is interesting to see the two together to visualise the difference in the colours.
Sasha is a well conformed mock chocolate longcoat mismarked banded mouse. She is from a litter of 3 to our longcoat snowtiger brindle Mkt Olive and her half brother Mkt Stryker, a cream brindle marked longcoat rex born on 9 March, 2009. Sasha has a lovely white band which unfortunately doesn't encircle her entire body. This litter was a surprise in the fact that we were expecting brindle offspring and not selfs or banded mice as was produced, nevertheless one of the interesting facets of breeding fancy mice.
At Sasha's first show in June, 2009 she won the Conformation Class with her sister, Sox placing 2nd to her.
Her sister, Sox, has turned out to be a mismarked longcoat havana self, overseas this colour is called sepia and is unstandardised. She has a marked tail and a small stripe of white on her belly and one front paw. All three mice from this litter have lovely conformation.
Maxi is a blue siamese rex manx born on 20 April, 2009 from Mkt Sylvie, our blue himalayan rex and Rocket Jinx, a blue siamese. She is the first manx born in our Mousery and the only one in the litter of 9 blue siamese. She is not show quality due to having a small tail stub but is very friendly and extremely cute.
Waggles is a cousin of Maxi, being born on 2 May, 2009 from an accidental mating to Mkt Sarah (sister to Mkt Sylvie) when the breeder's granddaughter thought one of the male mice looked "lonely". She is the cutest little longcoat rex blue/tan manx with a funny stubby little manx tail that sticks straight out from her body.
Tequila is our first homebred ticked mouse from our gorgeous Chinchilla, Ch Rocket Chiquita and a ticked male AppleEyes Marty. She was born on 14 May, 2009. Her parents both excell in conformation and all 4 babies from this litter have acquired their stunning conformation. Tequila and her two sisters are all bone agouti, with one of the sisters having a backspot. Their brother Mkt Papilio is a mismarked Silver Agouti.
We've been planning on breeding longcoat rex manx mice for a couple of years and those plans are finally bearing fruit. Our first litter born on 7 July, 2009 had it's highs and lows with only three surviving mice from a litter of eight.
Cinders is a perfect little lilac tan longcoat rex manx from our gorgeous chocolate girl Ch Sunstate Willow and Zen Hershey, a chocolate longcoat son of Aeon. She is a dominant girl is currently asserting her authority within the colony.
Jarrah is Cinders longcoat manx sister. The same colour as mum she is chocolate tan. She is a quieter mouse and is a nice little shape but isn't as good a manx as her litter sister or mum.
These two girls were born on 12 July, 2009 to our black brindle petshop girl, Sunflower and our himalayan male, Mkt Buddy. From the litter of five we only got one brindle buck and that was Mkt Archie.
Carla is a pink eyed white standard doe. She has a certain roundness to her and has lovely eyes and ears, and a very nice temperament. Carla is the first pew we have bred.
Dainty is the only Himalayan from the litter. She has lovely conformation and temperament and should do well at our shows.
